“Out of abundance we took abundance and still abundance remained.”- The Upanishads, Ancient Indian Text
This is part-2 of the 2-part series on abundance. You can read part-1 here.
Let us dive right into part-2:
12. Being Decisive And Staying With Their Decisions
“It is the moment of decision that your destiny is shaped.”-Anthony Robbins
Abundant people understand the incredible power of being decisive. It is not that abundant people jump into rash decisions. But they make sure that they do not overthink things and go off the cliff of analysis paralysis.
Abundant people also understand the impact of being flaky with their decisions.
Let us imagine that we go to the restaurant of life and the server comes and we place an order. But after a few minutes, we call the server and change the order.
A little while later we get unsettled about the order and in panic and despair run over to the waiter and again change the order. What kind of response do you think that we will receive from the restaurant management?
The same is true of our goals, aspirations and decisions. It is like placing an order with the universe and getting all into the goal and thinking and acting like it is the right one for a while. But with the first setback, you reverse your position and want to bail out. You are in essence confusing the universe and people around you.
This does not mean that you continue along paths that do not serve you. It simple means thinking things through and then making a firm decision that you are willing to follow through for a period of time. It means managing the discomfort and uncertainty of the new decision and giving it a chance to see the light of success.
13. Keep Company With Other Abundant Thinkers
“Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success, and love; it will all come back to you in abundance. This is the law of nature.” ― Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You
This is a big habit of abundant people. They make sure to meet, learn from and engage with people who challenge them to become more abundant.
Herein we will get into one the big fallacies of self-help. And the fallacy is to avoid negativity and negative people or people who do not agree with you. This may be true if you are receiving overwhelming negativity from one source.
In general, abundant thinkers do not live and pay attention to avoidance or other strategies that will create more of the same.
They understand the idea that “what you resist persists.” Studies have shown that it is not possible to completely forget or erase old neural networks. Instead the better approach is to move towards a new replacement habit or towards abundant ideas and thinkers.
Abundant people understand that social proof and support are powerful motivators in the pursuit of abundance.
They seek:
- People who challenge them.
- Stories that add value.
- New ways of learning and seeing things.
- Further learning and collaboration.
- Mastermind groups that allow seeing new patterns and pitfalls.
- Seek mentorship from people more abundant than themselves.
- Hire people who know more than they do in their fields.
14. DO Not Have an Emotional Charge or Hang Ups With Wealth and Abundance
“It’s more work to create poverty, disease and disharmony than it is to create health, harmony and abundance, because perfect health, harmony and abundance are the natural order of things.” – Robert Anthony
This is another huge one on the path to abundance. This one is so big that its impact is largely ignored or forgotten. My teacher, the amazing Louise L Hay says that the demonstration of wealth and abundance is not that difficult.
When people hear the above idea, they get angry and have a lot of emotional charge with it. And therein lies the key.
Many people have a huge emotional charge associated with being wealthy and abundant. This charge runs like a constant under current just below the consciousness. Of course, the charge comes to the surface often.
Let me ask you a simple question.
When you see an abundant person including their material manifestation of wealth, what goes on in your mind?
Do you see their shiny new car and get angry or do you feel happy for them? I know that this is a difficult question for many to answer. But how we feel around abundance and wealth is a huge indicator of resistance and blocks.
When we see abundance we might:
- Feel resentful.
- Feel anger and hate.
- Feel inferior and compare the self with others.
- Feel like others are having all the fun while we are working hard.
- Feel like our choices have become limited and feel trapped in our life.
- Feel hopeless and that things are impossible.
- Take actions that might block the abundance by self-sabotage: Oh it was not meant for me anyways.
Or we might feel:
- Happy that others have demonstrated abundance.
- Feel joy and hope that manifestation of abundance comes along in our lives.
- Feel at peace with wealth and abundance.
- Feel like choices are many and there is hope and possibility.
- Take actions that enhance abundance
Abundant people understand that it is possible to selectively shut off the tap of abundance. This can happen in different areas like mental, spiritual, physical and material abundance.
For example, a persona may be happy with their life and their spiritual and mental aspect. They may still not be able to show material or financial abundance. They may have hidden undercurrents against financial abundance.
Abundant people understand that financial and material abundance is like the exchange of energy. Money is simply another form of energy and they become comfortable exchanging it and buying and selling things.
They understand that we can block the energy transfer by beliefs and thoughts. With a lot of limiting beliefs, the manifestation of material abundance is at stake.
15. Disallow Assumptions to Dictate Them
“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” ― Isaac Asimov
Abundant people do not allow the baggage of assumptions to disrupt their forward progress. They are acutely aware of the inertia caused by pre-set ideas and assumptions. They do not allow tunnel visioning of options when it comes to progress.
I will be the first to admit that my life has been and sometimes is still punctuated by assumptions. We all make assumptions based on our unique set of beliefs and ideals. In fact, being discerning and assuming certain things may also be essential to learning.
But we also make a lot of unproductive assumptions like:
- I know that will not be possible for me.
- What if this scenario comes to pass?
- Should I do this because in the past I have not been successful?
- This is too difficult for me.
- I am not intelligent enough.
- The time is not right.
- This will take too much of my time, money and effort.
- Why bother, I know that I will not be successful.
“The way to keep yourself from making assumptions is to ask questions.”- Don Miguel Ruiz
The common thread of a life full of assumptions is the justification that each assumption provides to stay in the status quo. Since we do not like to believe that we are not capable of things, we rationalize things and provide reasons for justification.
Abundant people do not ruminate with their assumptions and instead they put them in perspective and take action. Abundant people do not take assumptions at face value and quickly test things out for themselves and in their context.
“I have learned as a composer chiefly through my mistakes and pursuits of false assumptions, not by my exposure to fonts of wisdom and knowledge.”- Igor Stravinsky
16. Are Totally Comfortable Seeking Connections and Assistance
“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” ― Brené Brown
Abundant people realize that they cannot do it all alone and they do not need to do it all alone. They never feel isolated because they make forming deep and meaningful connections a priority.
Abundant people are also great at asking for assistance and feedback. They understand that it is impossible to observe all their shortcomings and pitfalls with their ideas from their vantage point. They are unafraid to have an inner core of advisors and authentic feedback providers.
When I was playing a lot of tennis back in the day, my coaches used to tell me that I was doing something a little wrong with my stroke. But it would not make sense to me because I was trying to take their advice and raise the racquet and other corrections.
So my coaches suggested that that the best way to improve was to record your play and then watch it. They were right. Often it does not feel like we are making any mistakes from our position but others can see our loopholes better than we can.
Of course, abundant people are careful who to keep counsel with. They realize that the advice is always only as good as the advisor.
Scarcity mindset and lack makes us think and believe the following:
- We are isolated.
- People will not help us if we ask them.
- Why would a competitor help us?
- We can do it all ourself.
- We can trust none but ourselves, so let us pile it on.
- We are ashamed to ask for assistance.
- What will people think of they find out that we are asking for feedback?
- We will appear mushy and vulnerable like asking for directions.
17. Confidence That They Can Bring Great Value To Others And Unafraid To Sell
“You can add up your blessings or add up your troubles. Either way, you’ll find you have an abundance.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway
Abundant people have a deep confidence that their work can bring great value to the world and to others. They have no problem putting their best foot forward and expecting the best in return.
Abundant people realize that they represent a brand identity of their self. They understand that we are always selling our opinions, stories and products to others.
For them, selling is not a sleazy proposition. They find authentic excitement by the launching of their products and work.
They develop the ability to genuinely listen to people and understand what they need and rush in to fill that void. Abundant people are tuned to the requirements and needs of others and take action to fulfill those needs.
It is the belief that they can provide great value to others that makes them take action. The confidence to get things done distinguishes abundant people from the scarcity thinkers.
I love the story from Richard Branson that lead to the formation of Virgin airlines. I wrote it in a post before and I am sharing the excerpt here:
On a holiday with his girlfriend Joan to the Virgin Islands, they fell in love with the isolated and beautiful Necker Island. At that time, Branson could not afford to buy the island. His first offer for the island was outright rejected and they spent their holiday on another island.
Their flight got cancelled on the way to Puerto Rico and Branson saw that people were looking lost. They were wandering around in the airport.
According to Branson:
“No one was doing anything. So I did-someone had to. I chartered a plane for $2000. I divided that by the number of people. It came to $39 a head. I borrowed a blackboard and wrote on it: Virgin Airways. $39 single flight to Puerto Rico.”
This was the birth of the idea for an international airlines-Virgin Airways, and right in the middle of a holiday. Branson saw an opportunity and took a chance and leaped on it. He did something that others in the airport did not think of or did not implement.
The courage to take action on an opportunity and to create a novel one distinguishes the successful from the not so successful. It is all about the implementation of the thought or the idea that you have.
End of excerpt.
18. Create Systems Of Abundance That Work In Their Context And Life
“Abundance is, in large part, an attitude.” – Sue Patton Thoele
Abundant thinkers understand that abundance is a set of habits and structures. They give a good look at their current habits or systems and do not hesitate to learn new systems that can work better.
The great secret of abundance is to chance as change happens and not attach to ways that do not work anymore. Abundant mindset involves an elasticity and metamorphosis in this ever changing world.
Abundant thinkers also know that not all systems and habits work for everyone and are willing to try things out for themselves. They are ready to take action and do not take a principle at face value. The greatest impact is always achieved when a system works well in a proper context.
Systems of abundance include:
- Automating things that can be automated.
- Hiring experts and people who know more.
- Creating a team around common goals and aspirations.
- Developing and encouraging intuition and insight.
- Doing the most high impact activities and delegating the rest.
- Setting the bar higher and higher.
- Taking great action and also pausing to plan for the big picture.
- A clear image of what the future should look like.
Systems of abundance include a consonance in mind, body and spirit.
19. Appreciate the things that they have: Gratitude and Appreciation
“Reflect upon your blessings, of which every man has plenty, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” -Charles Dickens
This is one of the most common attributes of abundant people. They desire more but they deeply appreciate what they have.
They enjoy what they have and drop the resistance to having more. When they drop the tether that binds them to their desires, they are able to creatively focus on getting more.
Things automagically happen for them and the less they need something, the more they receive.
Abundant people realize that life is a blessing and everything around them is a labor of love of millions of people. Abundant people live life from a vantage point of deep heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.
“Gratitude builds a bridge to abundance.” ― Roy Bennett
Gratitude and appreciation are an attitude. A way of life. The full benefits of gratitude materialize by living and feeling deep and heartfelt gratitude. This is not an intellectual pursuit but a spiritual one. It is not an errand but a quest and a journey.
“Not what we have But what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance.” -John Petit-Senn
20. Seize Happiness In The Moment Instead Of Waiting
“Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.” - Wayne Dyer
Abundance is a state of mind. Abundant people do not believe in putting off or outsourcing happiness and joy in the moment. They always seem to enjoy themselves and be happy not because they have a rosy colored glasses. They have understood that the pursuit of happiness is a myth and may be elusive.
There is happiness and joy now. An idea of acquiring and achieving and then becoming happy is neither satisfactory nor is it supported by research. The problem with making happiness conditional is that we set the bar higher the next time.
Abundant people understand the fun is in the journey and challenges of life. As with everyone else, they have their share of challenges and troubles. But they seem to find the silver lining in the cloud because they look for it.
Their focus is on:
- Being happy in the moment.
- Finding happiness and contentment in the little things.
- Allowing themselves of experiencing the happiness and not deflecting it.
- Embracing life with the ups and downs.
- Realizing their strengths and weaknesses and finding what makes them happy.
21. GO to the Universe With a Bucket And Not a Thimble: Making BIG Plans
“The world is full of abundance and opportunity, but far too many people come to the fountain of life with a sieve instead of a tank car… a teaspoon instead of a steam shovel. They expect little and as a result they get little.”
―Ben Sweetland
And finally, abundant people have BIG plans for their present and their future. Louise L. Hay says that it is our choice if we go to the oceans of abundance with a thimble, a bucket or set up a pipeline. The more you ask and the bigger your goals are, the more you are likely to receive.
Abundant people do not ask from a mindset and energy of lack and fear and with the idea of hoarding. They ask because they deeply believe in the great abundance of the universe.
The nature of the universe is one of great abundance. Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith says that you need to look all around you in nature.
What do you see? Nature’s great show is one of great abundance. Look at the flowers, the animals and the earth and you will immediately know that there is no lack of abundance in the world.
Abundant people understand that we create the lack and limitations by not asking for our goals and aspirations. We create barriers by believing that we will receive nothing. This is our mental inhibition and block and not an inherent property of the universe.
Quantum physics has shows us that life and the universe are the interplay of energy and matter in ways and forms.
Everything including abundance is the vibration of energy and the exchange of energy.
When we block that flow of energy, our life becomes like a muddied stream with the energy getting stagnant. This is not a judgment but just an awareness to see if the energy of abundance is getting stagnant or if it is flowing in our lives.
“Abundance = choice = freedom. Scarcity = dependence = control.” – David Icke

Hi Harish,
The second part is excellent as the first one. I remember the quote that says ” You will reap what you sow today”. If we sow the seeds of happiness, we will get happiness. If we sow the seeds of sadness, failure, you will get the same failure back.
I love the last one particularly. “Go to the universe with the bucket and not with the thimble”. We need to think big.
After reading this post, I shared my views with my friend. I presented me a book called “Magic of Thinking Big”.
I suggest you to create a E Book. It will be very useful for many others.

Hi Umapathy,
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate the kind words that you have for the post. I completely agree with the quote you shared. What we sow today is indeed what we will reap in the future. This is an universal truth that many people struggle to grasp in its entirety. In essence, we project outwards what we feel and believe deeply inside. This projection becomes our self fulfilling prophecy. Under the guidance of this belief system, we either take action or not to get different types of results. The magic and beauty of this is that at any point of time, becoming aware of the auto manifestation and changing the belief system can bring totally different results.
I love the going to the universe with a bucket analogy too. I think that it is an abundance awakening idea and certainly makes us think about our priorities. I love The Magic Of Thinking Big by Schwartz. In fact, I own a hard copy from the pre-kindle and e-books days.
Thanks and stay inspired,

Hi Harish,
This is a great follow-up post in your abundance series. It has got strong and meaningful pointers that should be our focus if we want to be prosperous or happy.
I like your example of the restaurant of life. Wonderful and very helpful. Also, I agree that your growth depends on the company you keep. #14 is so important and true – your limiting and negative thoughts and beliefs can do you so much harm and block your way to abundance than you can imagine.
You need to create a positive acceptance with a positive charge around it. In every scientific process, you need a hypothesis, which is an assumption that you go on to prove it right or wrong. But making judgments or assumptions without any proof or logical reasoning or backing is being negative and that is counterproductive mostly.
I think if we lower our ego, that helps us more in the path towards abundance, as mentioned in #16. The example of Branson’s making use of the opportunity at the right time is so liberating – there are so many moments and situations in everyone’s life and even if we tap one of them and be courageous to be creative, we can fill our lives with abundance.
I guess #18 is what makes people instantly and insanely successful. And that’s being smart too. #19 is what I stated in my previous comment – contentment and that is appreciating what you have, but keep working to improve and progress. “Automagically” is the right word and that does happen, but for that you need to follow a process as nicely detailed and explained in your posts. Gratitude – everything begins and ends with it.
I agree that abundance is a state of mind. Being in the moment and being happy is the way to go! #21 is the truth, you get what you seek, in all aspects. I think all the ideas resonated with me as I’ve mentioned in this comment. In all, this is such a beautiful, comprehensive, and motivating post.
Thanks for taking time and making efforts to do so – a good treat indeed. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Harish says
Hi Harleena,
Thanks a lot for your comment and your kind words! I truly appreciate it.
I am glad that you liked the restaurant of life example. I remind myself sometimes of this example when my belief starts wavering. It shakes me back right up towards my goals and aspirations. I believe that one should try to give any enterprise enough time for it to bloom and blossom much like a flower or a plant.
I think that #14 is very important too. I think that the outwards manifestations of lack of abundance are easier to resolve. But I believe that “ninja” or hidden belief systems that people carry but do not know that they do can cause problems. After all if the outwards seems fine, abundance should follow naturally. But it usually does not for many people. These are limiting beliefs that need to be uncovered over time and through effort. I think that people do not take the time to get through the uncertain waters of going through these limiting beliefs.
I really like the scientific example that you provided of forming a hypothesis and busting through assumptions. I totally agree! It may take some work but certainly worth our while. Believing assumptions at face value can lead to a very unsatisfying life.
I think that lowering the ego is a great idea as you mention. Ego may be essential in some instances but often it can cause blinders that are difficult to get beyond!
I like your choice of words: “Gratitude – everything begins and ends with it.” I think that sometimes people forget to be grateful and appreciative for the small things in life. Creating habits and structures around an insanely grateful life and the expression of that heartfelt gratitude are wonderful life changers.
Thanks again for your wonderful and detailed comment. It is always such a pleasure to read your comments!

Once again Harish you have given me exactly what I needed to read. #14 is something I do a lot. I love the question.
[When you see an abundant person including their material manifestation of wealth, what goes on in your mind?]…
When we take personal inventories regularly we find things hidden. Things that may be preventing us from having an abundance life. This helps us avoid problems that may creep in on us through the back door.
You also mentioned abundance people understand how they can shut off the taps of abundance. This reminds me when I ask people if a person is successful at work but his home life is a wreak, is he really successful.
Our goal is being abundance in all areas of our lives. The attitude and condition of our heart matter more than our financial success.
This series have made such a positive difference in my life. My wife loves them and shares them at her job too. Thanks!
Harish says
Thanks for your comment, Vernon! You made my day! I agree with you that #14 is where we may have some hidden beliefs that usually do not come to the surface. It seems that we make some form of automatic opinion or another based on our unique belief systems. And we can sometimes take the reaction that we have to be true. I like your idea of taking regular abundance personal inventories. Very effective!
I think that when we are ready to do the work on abundance, we have the possibility of seeing a benefit. People immediately respond that they do not have the time or that they do not think it will work. Even though it may not appear as true, our beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions are all related and cannot exist in isolation.
I am incredibly happy to know that this series has made a difference in your life. I appreciate the kind words! Thanks a lot to your wife for sharing them at her work.
Hope you have an abundant weekend and week ahead, 🙂

Awesome post! Great follow up to your previous article on abundance and what highly abundant people do differently. The ones that stood out and resonated with me are #13 and #19.
I enjoy being around positive and abundant thinkers for sure. I love to be challenged and appreciate the people who stretches my mind and who cause me do dig deep within to activate my gifts and talents as an analytic and critical thinker. I get bored easily with mediocrity and so do not do well will those who have nothing challenging to offer.
I am an advocate for gratitude and encourage people ever so often to really appreciate and value the things that they already have. The quote says it all for me “Gratitude builds a bridge to abundance.”
Thanks for this high level inspirational and motivational post. Have a great weekend.

Hi Yvonne,
Thanks a lot for your comment and thanks for stopping by!
I am glad that #13 and #19 resonated with you. I like what you have to say about #13. I agree that it is very important to be around people who stretch our minds and enhance our imagination. Activating our gifts and talents as analytical thinkers as you mention is quite important on the path of abundance. That is precisely the reason why people on the path of abundance want to be surrounded by people who challenge them and stretch their growth in the right direction. That is also the reason why many highly abundant people hire experts who know more than them in different fields. They do not get intimidated by them but allow their knowledge to help them grow and become even more abundant. People who refuse to be on the path of abundance resist seeking assistance and attempt to surround themselves with “yes people.”
I am also a big advocate for gratitude and I believe having an attitude of gratitude is a wonderful gift that we can give ourselves and to the world around us.
Thanks and have a great week ahead!

#12 immediately got me. I think it also touches on committment. Once you make a decision to follow it through you have to stay committed. I always stay with my decisions, when I come across people who are indecisive and inconsistent it irates me a bit. I feel like being flaky is so counterproductive, like you can’t do anything that way.
Keeping up with a community of like minded thinkers definitely keeps you in the place you need to be. I enjoy those interactions most of all.
I love #20 waiting for happiness is like missing the bus, you can’t catch it. Happiness shouldn’t be viewed as something that just comes and goes. The truth is it can be found anywhere. I appreciate and find happiness in the little things myself.

Harish says
Hi Lea,
Thanks a lot for your comment!
I totally agree that #12 touches on commitment. Dedication to a cause and the belief that one has the ability to get through with it is very important. In tennis, we used to call this commitment to get the best stroke through to the other side of the court as “follow through.”
Similar to Timothy Galloway’s classic “Mastering the inner game of tennis,” I am reminded of the tennis analogy with this one. We can choose to stay safe and not attempt a complete follow through making us sure that the ball lands safely in the court. Or we can choose to stay the course of the follow through and take a riskier stroke and throughout the game that puts the ball closer to the lines and has a better chance of success. I remember that we would always be fearful of taking such strokes and elevating the game to that level. But that is what life requires, a complete follow through and staying the course. I believe the key is enthusiasm and belief.
I agree that being flaky can get to be very counter productive. The better option is to decide and go for it! There is power and elegance in that approach.
You are right about being with a community of like minded thinkers. It is key for success and staying the course. I must say that I enjoy interactions with like minded people very much also, similar to a mastermind group that supports and encourages you and gives great feedback.
I love the bus analogy that you gave. Waiting for happiness is indeed missing the bus because as you mention happiness is all around us. It is in the little moments and it is in the small details. It is simply a matter of looking at it from a different perspective that we already it around us instead of seeking it out there.
Thanks,
Harish

Hi Harish,
I think, Living and having in abundance is in our hands. That is what separates the successful people from the unsuccessful ones.
It all about the choices we made. How we want to live our life, there should be not grudges or hate in our mind to live abundantly and we should always have the psoitive thoughts in our mind.
I think, optimism is the one of the way to do so. That’s what I think. Others things as you have mentioned emotions, choices, assumptions, connections etc also matters alot.
Learned new things from your blogpost, thak you for sharing 🙂
Harish says
Hi Vishnu,
Thanks a lot for your comment!
I totally agree that abundance is in our hands. Let us claim it in our own lives instead of feeling like it belongs elsewhere. So many people are hesitant to ask for that abundance in their lives and when they do not receive it, they get surprised. The goals we set and the dreams we have determine the amount of success that we receive in our lives.
I agree with what you have to say about the choices that we have to make in our lives. Life is indeed a series of choices that we have made in the past and those that we are still making in the present. Like you mention, when we make a choice to live positively, we are making a choice to live powerfully and from abundance. Optimism is a very strong abundance indicators. Having a healthy and realistic optimism is a great approach to a life that is filled with ups and downs.
Thanks!
Harish
